Attorney Julie A. Petrik has worked toward justice for consumers and employees since 1992. Ms. Petrik graduated cum laude from Wayne State University Law School in Detroit, Michigan. She has been employed with Lyngklip & Associates Consumer Law Center, PLC, since its formation in 2007, litigating on behalf of consumers in federal court under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Telephone Consumer Protection Act, and Electronic Fund Transfer Act. Her early background includes representing unions and employees, negotiating labor contracts, grievance arbitration, and litigating unemployment compensation claims and appeals in state and federal court. She now represents consumers in claims under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, as well as employees who have been the subject of employment background checks.
Attorney Petrik is a current member of the State Bar of Michigan’s Consumer Law Section and served as a Council Member from 2007 to 2011. She has also been a member of the State Bar of Michigan, Labor, and Employment Law Section. Since 2004 she has been a member of the National Association of Consumer Advocates, the leading organization advocating legal rights for the consumer.
She is a published author on the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and trained other attorneys on the FDCPA and the Fair Consumer Reporting Act with a focus on false background checks. She continues to enhance her knowledge through continuing education in consumer law through NACA and NCLC.
With over 20 years of legal experience, she is committed to securing the rights of the consumer. She is admitted to practice in state and federal courts in Michigan and the Ohio Federal Court for the Northern District. While doing so, she has obtained excellent results for her clients. She has sued big banks, credit card companies, and robo-callers, and is passionate about consumer rights.
